Job Description:
IR Centers is a multidisciplinary private practice endovascular lab. We are leading minimally invasive procedures across the U.S. by providing interventional radiology services in an outpatient setting.

As a Surgical Assistant, you will assist in preparing patients and procedure rooms for surgeries, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready. You will maintain a sterile environment, assist physicians during procedures by passing instruments, and help with patient positioning and transfers.
Duties
Perform sterile prep of access sites and operative trays
Assist physicians during procedures: manage sharps, wires, catheters, device prep/loading, arterial closure
Operate angiography and ultrasound equipment; enter patient data into C-arm and troubleshoot as needed
Transfer, verify, and document images and data to PACS
Follow radiation safety (ALARA); document dose/fluoro time and maintain lead/badge compliance
Transport patients pre- and post-procedure; monitor vitals and notify RN/MD of changes
Complete screenings, assist with sedation transfer, recovery monitoring, and discharge
Monitor access sites post-op; manage bleeding/hematoma and hold pressure when needed
Perform pre-op calls, ROS review, medication reconciliation, and post-op prescription coordination
Coordinate pathology pickups and required specimen documentation
Manage inventory: unpack, restock, adjust pars, order supplies, run cycle/expiration reports (Spacetrax)
Clean and turn over procedure and patient rooms; dispose of hazardous waste per OSHA
Inspect and maintain equipment readiness; recommend repairs or replacements
Maintain environmental cleanliness, linens, and hazardous material containers
Assist front desk with chart prep, scheduling, and patient communication as needed
Comply with HIPAA, medication labeling, and sterile field competencies
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as Medical Assistant, Radiologic Technologist, or equivalent clinical training
Experience in Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, or procedural setting preferred
Knowledge of sterile technique, radiation safety (ALARA), and infection control standards
Ability to operate imaging equipment and manage PACS/image documentation
Competency in patient monitoring and post-procedure care
Familiarity with inventory management systems and medical supply handling
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Ability to lift, transport, and position patients safely
Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and facility policies
Working conditions:
Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases. Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and assist in patient transfers up to 400 pounds. Standing in a protective apron for 60-90 minutes is required. Reasonable accommodations for disabilities are available.
